Terms of Use

Chesterfield Family Guidance Center, Inc. (DBA: Family Guidance Centers)

Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern access to and use of the Family Guidance Centers website.

Effective date: October 4, 2026
Website: familyguidancecenters.com

1. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Chesterfield Family Guidance Center, Inc., doing business as Family Guidance Centers (collectively, “FGC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They apply to familyguidancecenters.com and public webpages operated by FGC that link to these Terms (collectively, the “Website”).

By accessing or using the Website, you agree to these Terms and our Website Privacy Policy . If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.

Additional terms may apply when you use a patient portal, electronic intake system, telehealth platform, payment service, online scheduling service, or another service provided by a third party. If additional terms conflict with these Terms, the additional terms control only for that particular service.

2. General Information Only

The Website provides general information about FGC, behavioral health topics, therapists, services, locations, insurance participation, scheduling, and community resources. Website content is provided for general informational purposes and is not intended to replace professional evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, or advice from a qualified health care professional.

Do not disregard professional advice or delay seeking care because of information found on the Website. Individual needs, diagnoses, treatment options, risks, benefits, and outcomes vary. FGC does not guarantee that any particular service, therapist, treatment method, or resource described on the Website is appropriate or available for a particular person.

3. Not for Emergencies or Crisis Communications

The Website, online forms, ordinary email, voicemail, and general contact channels are not emergency services and are not continuously monitored.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. For mental health crisis support in the United States, call or text 988.

Do not use the Website, an online intake form, ordinary email, or a general message to report an emergency, communicate an urgent clinical concern, or request immediate assistance. Current patients should follow the crisis and communication instructions provided by their therapist.

4. No Therapist-Patient Relationship Created by Website Use

Accessing the Website, reading its content, submitting a general inquiry, requesting an appointment, completing an online request, or sending an ordinary email does not by itself create a therapist-patient relationship with FGC or any therapist.

A therapist-patient relationship is established only through FGC’s applicable intake, consent, acceptance, and service-delivery processes. Submission of an appointment request does not guarantee acceptance as a patient, placement with a particular therapist, an appointment time, insurance coverage, or the availability of a requested service.

5. Scheduling, Intake, and Service Availability

  • Appointment and intake requests are subject to therapist availability, clinical appropriateness, geographic and licensing requirements, age and service limitations, insurance participation, and completion of required paperwork.
  • An appointment is not confirmed until FGC or the applicable therapist provides confirmation through an approved communication method.
  • Therapist profiles, schedules, insurance participation, office locations, telehealth availability, and services may change without notice.
  • FGC may decline or redirect a request when the requested service is unavailable, outside the practice’s scope, or not clinically appropriate.
  • If FGC provides an external referral or resource, that information does not guarantee that the external provider is accepting patients, participates with a particular health plan, or is appropriate for a particular need.

6. Telehealth Links and Services

The Website may provide links to telehealth waiting rooms or platforms. A telehealth link is provided for convenience and does not establish eligibility for services or replace appointment confirmation, intake requirements, informed consent, identity verification, payment arrangements, or emergency planning.

Telehealth availability depends on applicable law, the therapist’s license and professional requirements, the patient’s physical location at the time of service, technology availability, clinical appropriateness, and FGC or therapist procedures. Do not enter a therapist’s telehealth waiting room unless you have a scheduled appointment or have been instructed to do so.

Third-party telehealth platforms may have their own terms and privacy practices. Health information handled through an FGC-approved clinical platform is governed by applicable privacy laws and FGC’s Notice of Privacy Practices .

7. Privacy and Sensitive Information

Your use of the public Website is also governed by our Website Privacy Policy . Our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices explains how FGC may use and disclose protected health information and describes patient rights.

Do not submit medical records, diagnoses, treatment details, Social Security numbers, payment-card information, or other highly sensitive information through an ordinary email, a general website field, or another channel that FGC has not designated for that purpose. Use the secure intake, portal, payment, or communication method provided by FGC.

Although FGC uses reasonable safeguards, no website, email service, internet transmission, or information system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

8. Use Involving Minors

The public Website is intended for adults, including prospective adult patients, parents, guardians, caregivers, and referral sources. It is not directed to children under 13 for independent use.

A parent, guardian, or other legally authorized person may use an FGC-designated process to request services or submit information concerning a minor. Use of the Website does not determine who may consent to treatment or control a minor’s health information. Those issues are governed by applicable federal and Virginia law, custody or court documents, professional requirements, and FGC procedures.

9. Insurance, Cost, and Payment Information

Statements about insurance participation or benefits are general and do not guarantee coverage or payment. Coverage may depend on the patient’s plan, therapist, service, location, authorization requirements, deductible, copayment, coinsurance, medical necessity, and the health plan’s processing of the claim.

Patients are responsible for confirming plan-specific benefits and for charges assigned to them under applicable agreements and law. FGC may use a third-party payment service whose separate terms and privacy practices apply.

If you do not have health insurance or do not plan to use certain health insurance coverage, you may have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges. Review our Good Faith Estimate notice or call 804-743-0960.

10. Acceptable Use

You may use the Website only for lawful, personal, and noncommercial purposes. You agree not to:

  • use the Website in violation of applicable law or another person’s rights;
  • submit information that is knowingly false, fraudulent, threatening, harassing, defamatory, or unlawfully discriminatory;
  • impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity, authority, or relationship with another person;
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Website, accounts, systems, data, or networks;
  • introduce malicious code, interfere with Website operation, test vulnerabilities without authorization, or circumvent security controls;
  • use automated means to scrape, harvest, copy, or index Website content except as permitted by law and generally accepted search-engine practices;
  • collect or use personal information about another person without lawful authority; or
  • use Website content to train, develop, or improve an artificial-intelligence or machine-learning system without FGC’s prior written permission, except where such restriction is prohibited by law.

FGC may restrict or terminate access, preserve information, and cooperate with lawful investigations when reasonably necessary to protect patients, users, FGC, or others, or to comply with law.

11. Intellectual Property

The Website and its original content, organization, design, text, graphics, logos, photographs, videos, downloads, and other materials are owned by or licensed to FGC and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

FGC grants you a limited, revocable, nonexclusive, nontransferable right to access and use the Website for lawful personal and noncommercial purposes. You may print or download a reasonable number of copies for personal use, provided you do not remove copyright, trademark, attribution, or other proprietary notices.

Except as permitted by law or with prior written authorization, you may not reproduce, modify, republish, distribute, sell, license, publicly display, create derivative works from, or commercially exploit Website content. “Family Guidance Centers,” associated logos, and other FGC marks may not be used in a manner suggesting sponsorship, endorsement, or affiliation without written permission.

To report a copyright or trademark concern, contact FGC using the information at the end of these Terms and identify the material, its location, the rights involved, and your contact information.

12. Third-Party Websites and Services

The Website may link to external healthcare providers, community resources, government agencies, health plans, patient portals, telehealth platforms, payment services, mapping services, social-media services, or other third parties. FGC does not control external websites or services and is not responsible for their availability, content, security, accessibility, privacy practices, products, or services.

A link does not necessarily mean that FGC endorses or guarantees the linked organization, information, product, or service. Review the third party’s terms and privacy notices before using its website or service.

13. Accuracy and Availability

FGC makes reasonable efforts to keep Website information accurate and current, but information may become outdated, incomplete, or unavailable. FGC may modify, suspend, withdraw, or discontinue any part of the Website without notice.

FGC does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, compatibility with every device or browser, or that the Website will be free from harmful components. You are responsible for using appropriate device, browser, network, and security protections.

14. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Website and Website content are provided “as is” and “as available.” FGC disclaims warranties regarding the Website, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, noninfringement, accuracy, and availability.

Nothing in these Terms disclaims or limits professional duties, patient rights, privacy rights, nondiscrimination protections, or other obligations that cannot lawfully be disclaimed or limited.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, FGC and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, and licensors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related to use of, inability to use, or reliance on the public Website or external websites linked from it.

This limitation applies only to claims involving the public Website. It does not alter liability or legal rights relating to professional healthcare services, protected health information, contractual payment obligations, or any matter for which liability cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

16. Responsibility for Misuse

To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for losses, claims, or expenses resulting from your unlawful use of the Website, your material violation of these Terms, or your infringement of another person’s rights. This provision does not apply to ordinary patient use of FGC services and does not waive any nonwaivable consumer or patient right.

17. Accessibility and Language Assistance

FGC is committed to providing access to its Website and services. To report a Website accessibility barrier or request information in an alternate format, call 804-743-0960, email emily@familyguidancecenters.com , or review our Accessibility Statement .

Free language assistance and appropriate auxiliary aids and services are available. Review our Notice of Nondiscrimination and Language Assistance .

18. Governing Law

These Terms and disputes concerning use of the public Website are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except when federal law applies.

Any legal proceeding concerning the public Website must be brought in a court having lawful jurisdiction and proper venue in Virginia, unless applicable law requires otherwise. Nothing in this section changes a patient’s rights under an applicable complaint, grievance, administrative, regulatory, or professional-board process.

19. General Provisions

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted and the remaining provisions will remain in effect.

FGC’s failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of that provision or any other provision. These Terms and the Website Privacy Policy constitute the agreement concerning use of the public Website, but they do not replace patient consent forms, financial agreements, clinical policies, the HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices, or terms applicable to third-party services.

20. Changes to These Terms

FGC may update these Terms when its Website, services, practices, or legal obligations change. Revised Terms will be posted on this page with an updated effective or revision date. Your continued use of the Website after revised Terms are posted means that the revised Terms apply to your subsequent use.
