““Our life depends on the kind of thoughts we nurture. If our thoughts are peaceful, calm, good, and kind, then that is what our life is like. If our attention is turned to the circumstances in which we live, we are drawn into a whirlpool of thoughts and can have neither peace nor tranquility.” – Elder Thaddeus
Nicholas “Nick” Junes is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Virginia with over seven years of direct clinical experience. Nick works primarily with adolescents and adults in addressing issues such as anxiety, self-esteem, relationships, overwhelm, life transitions, social anxiety, communication, and trauma.
Nick works together with clients on identifying their treatment goals and designing a protocol to help get them results. As each person is different, he does not use a “one size fits all” approach. Instead, he engages each client holistically in order to understand their individual needs. His treatment orientation emphasizes gaining insight, taking action, feeling connected, and breaking free from old patterns. Nick leans on practices such as mindfulness, parts work, unconditional positive regard, radical acceptance, and transformative communication skills.
In addition to his Master’s of Social Work (MSW) from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Nick has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hampden-Sydney College, and a Master’s of Divinity (M.Div) from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. He is trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gottman Method, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Outside of his clinical work, Nick and his wife love spending time with their dogs, cooking, and hiking.
