“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” – Barack Obama

Megan Whitney is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in the treatment of children, adolescents, young adults, and families. Megan earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). Since graduating in 2014, she has worked extensively with children, adolescents and their families in various settings, including residential treatment, day treatment, intensive in-home and educational. Most recently, Megan worked as a medical social worker for Arkansas Children’s Hospital where, as a member of the hospital’s “Team for Children at Risk,” she focused on conditions such as Failure to Thrive, Medical Neglect and Medical Child Abuse. Megan is passionate about working with clients and their families who have experienced trauma, abuse, and/or neglect; children with sexual behavioral problems; families with intergenerational trauma; clients who have chronic medical conditions; and children in the foster care system.

She employs a strength-based approach with her clients and their families to help them increase self-awareness and further develop the tools they already have to address the obstacles they face. Megan uses an integrated approach in therapy drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, art therapy, solution focused therapy, and trauma focused therapy. Megan has earned certificates in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (2015) and Telemental Health Counseling (2017).

Megan recently returned to her home state of Virginia with her husband and two children and is looking forward to working with clients and families in the area.
