Kimberly Boone is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of service providing mental health care. She received her master’s in social work from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Kim has worked in a variety of treatment settings with a wide range of clients. These include providing psychotherapy with children and adolescents in residential treatment programs, and working with adults, adolescents and children in inpatient and intensive outpatient/partial hospitalization programs. She has worked with children and families in the foster care system, struggling with issues related to attachment and loss. She also provided therapeutic services in school settings, providing counseling and crisis management.
Kim has a significant amount of experience working with children and families dealing with trauma, abuse, grief/loss, anxiety, depression and addiction. She utilizes a variety of treatment approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Play Therapy, Mindfulness, and trauma – informed treatment. Kim utilizes Strength Based Therapy to help bring about positive changes by improving mindset and focusing on positive attributes and resilience rather than negative ones. Kim is skilled at building therapeutic rapport based on mutual trust and respect. She is also able to provide counseling from a faith based Christian perspective if requested.
