“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” – Martin Luther King Jr.

Michelle values walking alongside people as they move towards being their best self and believes the client is capable of building on their own strengths to help discern effective tools for progress.  She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, has a certificate in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and is a Registered Play Therapist. Michelle has worked as an intensive in-home counselor, a counselor and supervisor for therapeutic day treatment in the schools, an outpatient therapist and a residential treatment therapist. Her Masters in Social Work came from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2013. In addition, she trains others in the ASSIST Living Works Suicide Prevention program. Prior to becoming a therapist, she graduated from Duke Divinity School with a Masters in Religious Education, Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity and worked in the church as a minister. While her worldview is Christian and she hopes everyone can have a spiritual journey, she is respectful of various views. Michelle appreciates the importance of walking with people as they move toward more meaningful lives.
