You are worthy, and I am here to help you focus on your wellness and your strengths. I work with a diverse population seeking treatment for mental health (MH) symptoms and disorders, substance abuse and substance use disorders (SUDs), and co-occurring disorders (MH and SUDs). I am well-versed in trauma informed care with exceptional experience treating acute and long-term effects of trauma, including posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
I completed my graduate studies at Virginia Commonwealth University with a qualitative research focus on survivorship of childhood trauma, childhood sexual abuse, and sexual assault. During this time, I also provided inpatient and outpatient therapy to the survivor population and individuals who struggle with SUDs. In addition to my research and therapy services, I presented and continue to present learning opportunities to populations who encounter trauma and MH symptoms as a component of their work.
I engage from a person-centered theoretical perspective and believe the therapeutic process is a partnership. Primary use of narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral techniques, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and motivational interviewing will support you in regaining happiness and finding peace within.
