Sophie Settle is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Grief Informed Professional. She holds a Master of Science (2016) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and a Bachelor of Arts (2011) in Religious Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Sophie has over six years’ experience of providing talk therapy to adults, children, and teens through outpatient, Intensive In Home, and inpatient recovery-based settings. Sophie’s counseling approach is primarily Humanistic, meaning that she seeks to bring awareness to the individual’s experiences and point-of-view in order to promote personal and professional growth. Depending on the individual’s needs and concerns, Sophie also utilizes Narrative, Cognitive Behavioral, Motivational Interviewing, and Family Systems approaches. In addition to talk-based therapy, Sophie also enjoys incorporating art and play therapies into her work with clients. She finds that creative, expressive exercises can be especially helpful to children and adolescents. Some of Sophie’s interests and specialties include grief and loss; family-of-origin issues; identity and life transitions; faith and spirituality; anxiety and adjustment disorders; trauma; addictions and recovery support.
