Valerie earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Eastern Mennonite University and her Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling at Virginia Commonwealth University. During her career, Valerie has worked in a variety of healthcare and human services settings including CrossOver Ministry, Daily Planet and the Center for Christian Counseling. She has over 20 years of experience in the helping profession including case management and counseling. She is passionate about helping her clients grow strong and resilient in their lives and relationships. In counseling, Valerie utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches based on the specific needs of the individual client. She is a skilled and knowledgeable Christian counselor and is happy to encourage clients to use their faith as a source of strength, comfort and courage when requested. Valerie is also experienced in helping clients who are seeking to overcome the challenges related to anxiety, depression, schizoaffective disorder, and relational challenges. She welcomes the sad, the brokenhearted, the socially isolated, those who are living with mental illness, and anyone who is seeking to find the support, encouragement, and resources needed to live a happier and healthier life. When she is not working, Valerie enjoys dabbling with organic gardening, textile arts, beekeeping, and spending time with family and friends.
