Margaret Anne Dawson is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). She earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology and master's degree in Counselor Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her work experience includes inpatient and outpatient treatment of mental health disorders, substance use disorders, and co- occurring disorders, as well as crisis stabilization and mental health services in the community.
Margaret Anne's specialties and areas of research are the long-term effects and treatment of survivors of childhood trauma, and survivors who struggle with substance abuse and addiction. She regularly presents in the community and at conferences throughout the United States, and is an active member of the American Counseling Association.
Margaret Anne is well-versed in trauma informed care and engages from a person-centered theoretical perspective. She believes the therapeutic process is a partnership and uses narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral techniques and motivational interviewing to support clients in finding peace within.
